Record Setting Industry Leadership

Client: Scottish Development International (SDI)

Industry: Government Economic Development Agency

Challenges: Create a yearly forum entitled ‘The IP Business Forum’ that would promote Scotland as a thought leader in electronic design, beyond its established reputation for semiconductor manufacturing. Achieve industry and trade press recognition and coverage.

Strategy: Develop a yearly topic that is significant, controversial, and relevant to industry trends. Engage an industry luminary to chair panel on a consistent basis.

Results: Developed a yearly forum, now in its 6th year, which deals with the central issues in electronic design, IP and SoC design challenges. Scotland’s SDI was recognized as the co-sponsor of the IP Business Panel forum for five consecutive years and as a solid supporter of IP industry success. Chaired yearly by Jim Tully, Dataquest Senior Analyst, the forum achieved record attendance by leading industry contributors, with 90+ guests and media. Informal surveys demonstrated that over 90% of attendees agreed that they not only enjoy the format of the event, but also always learn something of significance.
